School Readiness Assessments
Forward planning to ensure optimal development.
Service Description
School readiness can be actively facilitated with a little forward planning to ensure that children develop the appropriate skills required to help optimal learning when they enter Grade 1. School readiness does not only refer to academic aspects, such as writing your own name, counting to 20, knowing letters and sounds of the alphabet, but rather to a much broader range of skills for eg. independent self-care, attention and concentration, fine- and gross motor skills, emotional maturity, language skills and social skills. A school readiness assessment is a proactive approach with the aim of identifying developmental challenges that may affect future learning. Failure to identify shortfalls may affect a child’s entire school career.
