Service Description

Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurobiological in origin. Dyslexia impacts 1 in 5 students or about 20% of the population. It impacts males and females at the same rate. Dyslexia is not impacted by IQ. Individuals with Dyslexia have average to above average and often superior intellectual ability. Albert Einstein who was diagnosed with Dyslexia had an estimated IQ of 160. Dyslexia runs in the family and a child with Dyslexia will likely have a parent with Dyslexia. Dyslexia does not only refer to swopping letters and numbers when one reads or write. 7 different Dyslexia types can be distinguished. The aim of the assessment is to identify the specific type of Dyslexia in order to recommend appropriate learning support and accommodations.
